The Rocks Cafe, 99 George Street

Sydney professional photographers get together is every second Tuesday of the month with shoptalk on anything photographic: share recent work, sound feedback, latest gadgets, professional concerns, thoughts on visual culture.  More or less anything we like. Drinks and a bite if you'd like. No membership or industry association requirement, no entry fee, no rsvp.

Last month we saw both new and senior photographers at the get together with a good mix of portfolio feedback, personal project show and tell, a real life marketing success (contract secured after just two phone calls!) and just a quick touch upon ethics in photo-journalism. 

Well, how about we give ethics some discussion in this October meeting, given the opening of the Walkley and Steven Dupont exhibition at Australian Centre for Photography on the Thursday in the same week? Being a cross "platform" practitioner myself, working for both the media and business entities. I find that a strong awareness of the ethics as a photographer in both camps are crucial. Important to this is the understanding of what the difference is between the two types of image making.
