Lisa Saad’s objective as a commercial photographer is to seek out the essence of her subjects while still remaining true to her unique photographic style and the client briefs.
This preparedness to flout the rules of conventional photography has made her a favourite with creative directors, public relations practitioners and graphic designers in Australia and overseas and has secured her numerous local and international photographic awards.
Current president of the Advertising Commercial and Media Photographers Association (ACMP) and a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP), Lisa has photographed everything from 'high-end' advertising campaigns, fashion, lifestyle, location, corporate, food, portraiture, editorial and illustrative work to automotive shoots. She has shot stills for all the major TV networks in Australia and has more recently added cinematography to her growing service offering.
Lisa is also a well-respected director of photography and cinematographer for feature and short films, television, documentary, mocumentary and commercials, specialising in high definition digital imaging.
Some of the highlights of her work in this area were as director of photography, cinematography and HD camera operator for the TV series All Saints and the short film Space Boy.
Lisa always knew she was going to be a photographer, even before she knew what a camera was. She was born with a craving to explore. At the age of six, her curiosity took her to a pile of rubbish where she tripped over a half buried old camera. She knew what she had found, and from that day on she saw the world through a lens.
This ability to find the buried treasure, and the passion and excitement when she picks up a camera has stayed with Lisa her entire career.
Her thoughtful and imaginative approach to her craft has resulted in a string of national and international awards. Her most recent were a Gold, Silver (with distinction) and two Silver awards at the 2012 Epson AIPP Victorian Professional Photographer of the Year awards. Other awards include, Capture Magazine’s Australia’s Top Photographers, 2011 (Advertising, Editorial and Corporate Category) and was among the top ten finalists in the world in the general category of the 2009 Hasselblad Masters Competition. She was also World Institute Advertising Photographer of the Year at the 2008, World Institute of Photographic Masters of the Year Awards.
A Bachelor of Arts-Photography graduate from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Lisa started shooting and working as a freelance photographer at just 19 years of age whilst still studying and in 1994 she started Gotham Studios in Richmond at only 25 years old. Lisa is also a preferred photographer for the Australian Consolidated Press and the ANZ Bank.
Lisa is a regular speaker for Nikon and an ambassador for Manfrotto and Gippsland Lakes, for Tourism Victoria. She has judged both international and local awards and is a regular APPA Panel Chair and Judge for the AIPP. She has also achieved her AIPP Masters l in Photography as well as her Masters in Multimedia from Swinburne University.
Lisa has exhibited at the Photographers Gallery in Melbourne, The Australian Confederation of Sport Headquarters in Canberra, Melbourne Photographers Exhibition, Our Melbourne Exhibition and recently at the Sharing the Scares Exhibition at the James Makin Gallery.
After 25 years of honing her photographic skills, Lisa is now concentrating on shooting for high-end advertising and corporate clients. Her offerings include conceptual work, annual reports, brochures, campaigns, food and photographic retouching.
