Member Rules
ACMP Members Rules and Regulations
These rules and regulations are set down in the Associations Constitution.
1. MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
1.1 FULL MEMBER
Any photographer with at least two years full time professional experience dating from his first published work, or who has the equivalent qualifications and whose work in the areas of advertising, commercial and magazine photography constitutes the major part of his professional activities, and at the time of his application is so engaged; or who, in the opinion of the Membership Subcommittee, has acquired the necessary experience and ability, and is a fit and proper person, may be admitted as a Member of the Association.
Note full member of the organization in denoted with a capital M as in Member. Other members are denotes by member in lowercase.
1.2. AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP & REGISTERED SUBSCRIBER

Any photographer with less than 2 years' professional experience or who on applying for membership does not satisfy the Membership criteria required by Article 6, but who signs an agreement to adhere to these Articles, the Code of Ethics, and the objects of the Association and is in the opinion of the Membership Subcommittee a fit and proper person, may be admitted as a Registered Subscriber, with such privileges and upon such conditions as may be determined by the Board of Directors from time to time.
1.3. ENDORSED PHOTOGRAPHIC ASSISTANT
(Trampoline Assistant)
Any person, who on application signs an agreement to adhere to these Articles, the Code of Ethics and the objects of the Association, and in the opinion of the Membership Subcommittee has acquired the necessary experience and ability, and is a fit and proper person may apply to be registered as an Endorsed Photographic Assistant. Such application must be endorsed by two ACMP Member referees and may be subject to conditions.
1.4. REGISTERED STUDENT
(Trampoline Student)
Any student attending a recognised school of photography who signs an agreement to adhere to these Articles, the Code of Ethics and the objects of the Association, and is in the opinion of the Membership Subcommittee a fit and proper person may be admitted as a Registered Student, with such privileges and upon such conditions as may be determined by the Board of Directors from time to time.
1.5. TRADE AFFILIATE
Any person or trader, employed or engaged in an ancillary occupation to professional photography who does not qualify for membership, but who applies for Trade Affiliate Membership of the Association and who in the opinion of the Membership Subcommittee would adhere to these Articles, the Code of Ethics and the objects of the Association may be accepted as a Trade Affiliate of the Association with such privileges and upon such conditions as may be determined by the Board of Directors from time to time.
1.6. RETIRED MEMBER
Any Member who retires from the photographic profession may on application to the Membership Subcommittee, at its discretion, be enrolled as a Retired Member.
1.7. HONORARY DISTINCTIONS
(a) The Association may bestow an Honorary distinction on any person whether already a member of the Association or not, who has distinguished himself by meritorious service in the furtherance of the work and objects of the Association, or photography generally.
(b) Any such title shall be regarded as a mark of distinction and shall be conferred in cases of outstanding merit. Any person not already a Member of the Association who is given such an honour of the Association shall become a Member of the Association.
2. PRIVILEGES OF MEMBERSHIP
2.1 FULL MEMBERS ONLY
Membership privileges are afforded only to every Member of the Association.
(a) Every (full) Member is entitled to the designation "Member of the Association of Australian Commercial and Media PhotographersLimited".
(b) Every (full) Member shall be entitled publicly to make known the fact that they personally are a Member of the ACMP. The ACMP logo and any other trademark of the Association, whether registered or unregistered, shall only be used in a manner or form as approved by the Association. Upon cessation of Membership, howsoever it occurs, the Member shall disassociate himself in all ways from the Association and shall cease to use the ACMP logo and any other mark of the Association.
(c) Every (full) Member shall be entitled to a certificate of Membership. Such certificates shall remain the property of the Association and shall be returned to the Association on cessation of Membership howsoever it occurs.
(d) A (full) Member of ACMP, but only while he is also a member of the Institute, and who is a Certified Professional Photographer, Associate, Master, Honorary Life Member, Honorary Fellow or Fellow of the Institute shall be entitled publicly to make known the fact by using the letters CPP, AAIPP, M.Photog., Hon LM, Hon FAIPP and FAIPP, respectively after his name. No person shall, by reason only of his Membership of the Association, be entitled to use after his name any letters suggestive of membership or status within the Association.
3. LIMITATIONS
3.1 FEES AND SUBSCRIPTIONS
All fees, subscriptions and other monies payable by Members and Affiliates shall be determined from time to time by the Board of Directors.
Members and Affiliates shall pay the annual subscription due on the date of application and the annual subscription shall become due at the end of their subscription year
3.2 MEMBERSHIP
The Board of Directors may at any time withdraw all or any of the privileges of any Registered Subscriber, Endorsed Photographic Assistant, Registered Student or Trade Affiliate.
4. CESSATION OF MEMBERSHIP
4.1 A Member may at any time by giving notice in writing to the Secretary resign his membership of the Association but shall continue to be liable for any annual subscription and all arrears due and unpaid at the date of his resignation and for all other monies due by him to the Association and in addition for any sum for which he is liable as a member of the Association under the Memorandum of Association of the Association.
4.2 The membership of any Member shall cease at the end of the subscription year next following the date when he ceases to be eligible for membership.
4.3 If the subscription of a Member is not paid by the date due for payment, then all privileges of membership, including membership or office on the Board of Directors, or any subcommittee, shall be withdrawn.
4.4 Any person or entity who:
(a) fails to pay any monies due to the Association; or
(b) refuses or neglects to comply with any of the provisions or the intent of the Memorandum or Articles of Association or the Code of Ethics of the Association; or
(c) in the opinion of the ethics and Discipline Subcommittee has been guilty of any act or practice or conduct which may bring discredit on the Association or the profession of photography; or
(d) fails to observe any regulation or rule of the Association;
may be subject to such sanctions as deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors.
Such Member shall have sent to him 21 days' notice of the Ethics and Discipline Subcommittee meeting, and of the allegations against him. The Member may attend the meeting and shall have the opportunity of giving orally or in writing any explanation or defence.
A Member suspended or expelled from the Association by such meeting may, within 21 days next after notice of his suspension or expulsion, by notifying the Secretary in writing, appeal from the decision of the Ethics and Disciple Subcommittee to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors shall consider such appeal and such Member may attend the meeting and shall have the opportunity of giving orally or in writing any explanation or defence. No Member shall be entitled to legal representation except with notice to and the approval of the Board of Directors.
In all respects the decision of the Board of Directors shall be absolutely binding and conclusive and without any appeal to law.
A Member so suspended or expelled shall forfeit all claim to a return of the money paid by him to the Association by way of annual subscription or otherwise and shall cease to be a Member of the Association.
5. VOTES OF MEMBERS
5.1 Only (full) Members [including Honorary Life Members and Life Members], shall be entitled to vote an any general meeting. Every Member entitled to vote shall have one vote and no more at any general meeting.
5.2 No Member shall be entitled to attend or vote at any general meeting, either in person or by proxy, if his annual subscription remains unpaid.
5.3 A Member may vote in person or by proxy or by attorney and on a show of hands, every person present who is a Member, or a representative of a Member, shall have one vote and on a poll, every Member present in person or by proxy or by attorney or other duly authorised representative shall have one vote. A proxy must be a Member.
5.4 The instrument appointing a proxy shall be in writing under the hand of the appointor or of his attorney duly authorised in writing. The instrument appointing a proxy shall be deemed to confer authority to demand or join in demanding a poll. A Member shall be entitled to instruct his proxy in favour of or against any proposed resolutions. Unless otherwise instructed, the proxy may vote as he thinks fits.
5.5 The instrument appointing a proxy shall be in the following form or as near therto as circumstances will permit;
6. POWERS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
6.1 The affairs and business of the Association shall be managed by the Board of Directors. It shall be managed and carried out between meetings of the Board of Directors by the Directors, and their activities must be ratified at the subsequent Board of Directors meeting.
