Launched 23 September 2011, we invite Australia's 1500 student photographers to submit the best images from their end of year portfolios.

ACMP SPY Awards provides emerging photographers with the opportunity to gain career-building exposure within the photographic industry and wider creative community.

ENTRY FEES    Entry is $30 per category

ELIGIBILITY

§ To be eligible to enter you must be an Australian resident, aged 18+ years and:

§ A currently enrolled full time or part time student of photography for at least one semester in 2011 - winning entrants will be asked to show proof of enrolment

§ The work must have been captured 1st January 2010 and 13 October 2011 when the entrant was a student

§ All images entered must have been conceptualised, exposed and created by the entrant. 

 

HOW TO ENTER

1. A maximum of 5 images in any category:

To be the winner of any category a minimum of 4 images are required to be submitted in that category.

Entries must be uploaded as a single file

1.    Create a new document in Photoshop at 72dpi, 800 pixels high and as long as needed e.g. 6000 pixels

2.    Resize all your entry images to 72dpi, 800 pixels high 

3.    Place all images into the new document in the order you want them viewed with a small space in between each

4.    Flatten the image and save as a jpg at level 8

5.    Name your file in the following format ImageTitle e.g. MyBestImage.jpg 

All submitted files must be exhibition-ready - cropped, retouched and in the order you wish them to be judged.

DIGITAL MANIPULATION

Images entered in this competition need to be based on an image captured through a camera.

Digital manipulation and composite imaging is allowed; however, entries in the documentary category shall maintain traditional integrity standards of photojournalism (no composite images eligible in the documentary category)

Winning entrants may be requested to provide original film or digital files.

COPYRIGHT

Only entries in an individual's name shall be eligible. You must have full copyright ownership of the submitted images. Copyright of the photographs shall remain with the photographer at all times. Photographers whose work is chosen as a category winner agree to license their awarded images to be reproduced in newspapers, magazines and catalogues in order to advertise and promote the competition and exhibition. All entrants shall allow their images to be reproduced in the electronic media (i.e. television and the internet), if the use is specifically related to the advertising and promotion of the competition, and exhibition if relevant.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Judging criteria will include artistic merit, image quality, narrative, originality and style.

A winner for each category will also be chosen from the judge's scores for an aggregate of four images.

JUDGES

The judges are invited to judge by the ACMP Board from a selection of noted industry persons such as photographers, and image buyers -all have extensive industry experience, an eye for talent and quality. The judges' decision is final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the result.
